Safety precautions may not prevent industrial accidents

by | Apr 15, 2021 | Firm News

Industrial workers face various dangers on a daily basis. This is why they should make sure to take all the necessary precautions to prevent accidents and injuries while working at an industrial site in California or any other state. However, even after taking all possible precautions in hopes of avoiding an accident, there is still the chance that industrial accidents may happen.

This may have been the case in a recent accident which occurred one morning in late January. As of now, there have not been any reports of safety violations. However, authorities are currently investigating the incident in order to determine the possible causes. The incident happened at approximately 7:45 a.m. at an industrial site in another state.

When the police arrived on the scene they discovered one 26-year-old worker who had suffered injuries considered life threatening. The man was immediately transported to a nearby local medical facility. Unfortunately, the medical staff could not save the man, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. One other worker also suffered injuries as a result of the incident.

Apparently, the incident occurred when the decedent and the other worker were using sledge hammers to demolish a brick wall. The two men were standing on a scissor lift as they were performing their task. Somehow, the brick wall collapsed unexpectedly. This caused the scissor lift to fall, resulting in the decedent falling off of the scissor lift, which led to his head hitting the ground.

Although it can be difficult for a family in California to hear about the death of a loved one, families should know that there are options available that can help during this challenging time. Part of the hardship may be financial due to loss of household income and funeral costs. In most industrial accidents, it is possible to file for benefits via workers’ compensation insurance.
