Safety in any type of workplace should be a top priority for employers. However, this can be even more essential in industrial work environments in California or in any other state. Failure to adhere to safety standards can cause potential industrial accidents, which can lead to workers being injured or even killed. Work safety officials are now investigating a recent industrial accident to determine if any violations had occurred.
The incident occurred at approximately 1 p.m. in late September. Apparently, a worker was using a forklift for some reason, but authorities and company officials have yet to release details as to what the worker may have been using the forklift to do. However, something caused the forklift to be turned onto its side. The worker operating the forklift was crushed by the heavy machinery.
The worker was later pronounced dead. The state work safety authorities are now investigating the incident in order to determine if the employer had been in violation of any work safety rules or regulations. Violations of these rules can leave the employer open to serious punishments, including steep monetary fines. The company had closed down operations to allow for investigations to be completed.
On the other hand, although the employer can make necessary adjustments to prevent future similar industrial accidents from happening again, there is nothing that can be done to bring back the lost life. However, the family of the decedent may be able to obtain death benefits by filing an application for workers’ compensation. This option may be available for most families who have lost a loved one in a workplace accident in California or any other state.
