Elevator technicians have high risk of industrial accidents

On Behalf of | Apr 14, 2021 | Firm News

There are certain professions that may involve inherent risks of injury. Many industrial workers face this situation on a daily basis. Even when workers take the necessary precautions, they can be injured or even killed in industrial accidents. Unfortunately, this is what recently happened to an elevator technician in Los Angeles, California.

Local firefighters and police were alerted to the accident at approximately 8:50 p.m. in early November. The 31-year-old elevator technician was discovered in an elevator shaft at the ground-floor level of a three-story building. The worker was pronounced dead by authorities at the scene of the incident. The man had reportedly been working for Amtech Elevator Services.

There have yet to be any reports regarding any safety violations that may have contributed to causing the incident. Also, no other injuries have been reported in relation to the recent accident. Authorities are now looking into what may have caused the man to fall into the elevator shaft and ultimately to his death.

Although finding out what may have happened can provide a certain amount of closure for the family of the decedent, it will more than likely not make any difference in the ability to obtain death benefits via workers’ compensation. Whether there had been safety violations in the fatal accident in Los Angeles, California, the family may be able to receive monetary reimbursement for the loss, which could help pay for funeral costs and other related expenses. This may be an option for many families who have lost loved ones due to industrial accidents.
