The incident, occurring in the morning, was immediately reported to the San Leandro headquarters of Volvo Construction Equipment and Services located on Marina Blvd.

State officials claim a front-end wheel vehicle was raised on support stands while the field service technician was working underneath the vehicle. When county firefighters arrived on the scene, they found the victim trapped under the equipment. He was later pronounced dead. They fire crew was assisted by personnel from the Alameda County coroner’s office. They attempted to remove the cadaver. They reportedly had to use a mechanical hoist to move the materials up and away from the body.

Reports filed state there were no other injuries. In an updated news report, the victim was identified after family was notified. The vice president of corporate communications with Volvo Construction issued a statement, noting that the company deeply regrets the tragic accident and expresses condolences to the family of the victim. Losing a loved one is traumatic; however, this is especially true in a workplace fatality. While families go through the process of mourning, legal professionals are available to help protect rights in discrete manners. In many cases, family members of those who suffered a workplace injury that ended in death may be entitled to compensation under the law, following a construction accident. All options can be explored, including negligence or equipment malfunction.
