Heavy machinery can cause construction workers’ accidents

On Behalf of | Apr 14, 2021 | Firm News

Workers at a construction site are injured every day due to dangers inherent to the construction industry. Much of this has to do with the heavy machinery that construction workers have to deal with on a daily basis in California or in any other state, which can cause construction workers’ accidents. Unfortunately, this is the reason that one worker was killed in a recent construction accident.

The incident occurred one morning in early September at a construction site located on a roadway. The construction crew was attempting to resurface the roadway when the fatal accident happened. Apparently, a motor grader, which was being driven by a local government employee, hit another construction worker. The construction worker who was hit has been identified as a 42-year-old male.

The authorities were notified of the incident just shortly after 8:00 a.m. The sheriff’s department, as well as the local fire department and paramedics, arrived on the scene shortly after to render assistance. However, the construction worker who was hit was unable to be saved. He later died as a result of the injuries suffered in the accident.

The work safety authorities will be investigating the construction accident in order to determine if any safety violations had been committed. However, whether any violations are discovered, the family of the decedent may be able to obtain some monetary assistance by filing for benefits via workers’ compensation. This is available for most construction workers’ accidents in California or elsewhere. On the other hand, one’s initial application for benefits may be denied, which means that legal action may have to be taken to obtain benefits.
